The Referral Process
We can accept referrals by letter and by fax or telephone followed by a letter. We have indicated the information that would be helpful for us to receive from you, the referring dentist, in the referral form displayed on this web site. We aim to deal with your enquiry quickly and efficiently and to see your patient as soon as possible, usually within two weeks. We will acknowledge your referral immediately and contact your patient to initiate the process.
Patient Consent
We will see your patient and assess the treatment that is necessary taking into account your referral letter. We will then explain tot he patient the different treatments that are available to them, give them a detailed treatment plan and an estimate of the costs involved. We ask the patient to give their formal consent before we commence treatment using the referral form.
Specialist Services Protocols
In the following pages of the handbook we describe the protocols for the individual specialist services, including the process your patients will go through from referral to treatment and back to you, plus standards of care.
We will provide you with the following information:
• An acknowledgement of your referral
• Copies of information sent to your patient
• The treatment plan
• Copies of radiographs taken (OPT at extra cost) a final report including return of any radiographs you sent us (the report will include the treatment, any additional treatment and follow-up procedures)
